Plants and People

Before humans there were plants. After plants there were people.

What do plants see?

Did they watch Adam and Eve sew clothing out of fig leaves?

Did they admire Solomon as he waltzed through the orchards?

Did they gasp in horror when Jesus cursed a fig tree?

Do they hear the groans of humanity?

Do they see the brokenness of our world?

Do they wait patiently alongside us for liberation from bondage?

The struggle of humanity

The desire for community

We’re not that much different from plants.

We’re

 just

people.

Sha Santos is a multidisciplinary artist whose work primarily focuses on Christian doctrines and reformed theology while abstaining from any explicit iconography altogether. Her main printmaking mediums are screen printing and intaglio. Her work illustratively addresses the condition of humanity and the sovereignty of God. She does this by examining the original Greek and Hebrew biblical texts and through the study of church history.
